Agartala: April 14: Chandipur assembly constituency MLA and minister Tinku Roy addressed the recent replacement of the statue of Baidyanath Majumdar with a statue of Shri Ram. Speaking on the matter, he stated that the statue of Baidyanath Majumdar had been removed in 2018 due to public dissatisfaction. He emphasized that the BJP was not involved in the removal, attributing it to the people’s reaction against the Left’s governance over the preceding 25 years.

The minister also mentioned that the location of the removed statue had been a site of frequent traffic accidents, prompting written complaints from residents seeking its removal. He noted that the installation of the Shri Ram statue at the same location was carried out by unknown individuals and clarified that the BJP was not responsible for its placement.

In his remarks, Tinku Roy expressed willingness to assist CPIM leaders if they wished to install a statue of Baidyanath Majumdar in front of their party office.
