Agartala: April 20: Tensions arose in the border-adjacent Nandalal Das Para region following the detention of two individuals, suspected to be Bangladeshi nationals, from a nearby forest. Local residents alleged that the detainees entered India with the intention of stealing cattle, leading to their apprehension.

Reports suggest that the two young men were spotted behaving suspiciously in the forest close to the border. They were confronted and detained by residents, who suspected them of cattle theft. Some residents reportedly assaulted the individuals in the presence of Border Security Force (BSF) personnel. The detainees’ identities have yet to be confirmed, but authorities suspect they are from Bangladesh. Upon being informed about the incident, police from Sidai police station intervened, calming the situation and taking the individuals into custody.

The incident has heightened tensions in the area, with residents calling for increased border surveillance to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Police have initiated an investigation and are interrogating the detainees, while the BSF is reportedly preparing a detailed report on the matter.
