Agartala: April 26: In a series of operations at Agartala railway station, the Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered 14 kilograms of cannabis and detained six individuals, including five Indian touts and one Bangladeshi citizen. A case has been registered, and investigations are underway.

According to GRP officer-in-charge Tapas Das, authorities acted on secret information regarding the movement of the suspects. Surveillance was set up in collaboration with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, leading to the detention of the individuals upon their arrival at the station. During questioning, the Bangladeshi citizen admitted to illegally entering Tripura, while the Indian touts were allegedly involved in facilitating cross-border movement.

Additionally, the officer highlighted another anti-drug operation conducted at the railway station the previous day, during which 14 kilograms of cannabis were recovered. However, no arrests were made in connection to that seizure.

Authorities continue to investigate the incidents and are working to address concerns related to drug trafficking and illegal cross-border activities.
