Agartala, June 2: In the wake of heavy rains and flooding across Tripura, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb visited eight flood relief shelters in West Tripura district to assess the situation and provide support to affected families.

Taking a personal initiative, Deb distributed 2,250 food packets to the displaced residents as part of the first phase of relief efforts. Each food packet contains essential items including 5 kg of rice, 500 grams of lentils, mustard cooking oil, 500 grams each of soybeans, onions, and potatoes, along with salt and biscuits. The initiative aims to ensure that families have access to basic food supplies during this period of natural crisis.

Speaking to media during the visit, Deb emphasized the need to stand by the people in their time of need. He noted that the food packet distribution was organized to ensure that flood victims have access to basic necessities for at least a few days, even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Despite currently being based in Delhi, Deb has remained in constant communication with officials on the ground in Tripura. He has been monitoring the flood situation closely, receiving regular updates from the state administration.

This is not the first time Deb has stepped in during a natural disaster. During the previous floods that affected various parts of Tripura, he had arranged for the distribution of thousands of food packets across the state.

Sources close to the MP have indicated that such relief efforts will continue in the coming days, as the administration works to bring the situation under control and support those affected.
