Agartala, June 05: The state Agriculture and farmers welfare department minister Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday attended and interaction programme with farmers here in an event at Shalgarah Community Hall and encouraged the farmers to become Atmanirbhar.
The interaction programme was held under the initiative of Tepania Agri Subdivision of Gomati district of the state as part of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan.
Interacting with the progressive farmers of the Agri subdivision in the programme, the minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid importance on enhancing the livelihood of farmers through multiple schemes and assistance. He said that the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is a significant move to link the farmers directly with the Agri experts and scientists to enhance agricultural production in the country and make the country self-reliant in the sector.
The minister also emphasised on modern and scientific agricultural practices and further encouraged the farmers to take assistance from the government to enhance their agricultural production. He said that moving in line with the PM Modi’s vision, the Tripura government is working to double up the farmers’ income.
The minister also stressed on organic farming and claimed that the state is progressing in the sector.
