Agartala, June 08: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday said that the government is working towards overall development of the state. Dr Saha distributed allotment patta to the tea workers under the Mukhya Mantri Cha Sramik Kalyan Prakalpa.

Attending the event, Dr Saha said that the state government is working towards the overall development of the state. He said that Tripura ranks second among the states of the North Eastern region in terms of per capita income and GST collection.

Dr Saha also inaugurated a blood donation camp at the Tufanialunga J B School ground in Bamutia block. He said that in order to complete the work on time, the development work has been done at a much faster pace in the last 7 years of the present government than in the last 35 years.

“Representatives from various states of the country including Maharashtra are coming here to gain experience from the development work of the state,” Dr Saha said, adding that emphasis has been placed on modernizing the health system. A 100-bed modern eye hospital will be opened in the state in the next few years, he added.

The Chief Minister said that the goal of the current government of the state is to fulfill the basic needs of the people. Explaining the importance of blood donation, the Chief Minister said that there is no greater donation than blood donation.

He urged the people of the state to come forward more and more in blood donation. The Chief Minister mentioned that Tripura has also set a record in tree plantation by planting 5 lakh saplings in 5 minutes.

Referring to the progress of the state in the agricultural sector, the Chief Minister said that the income of the farmers of the state, which was Rs 6,580 in 2016, has now increased to Rs 13,590.

Dr Saha mentioned about the recently launched Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan and said that this aims to boost the agricultural sector of the state and double up the farmers income.
