Agartala, June 9 — In a proactive move to tackle critical infrastructure issues, Tripura Minister Sukla Charan Noatia conducted an extensive inspection of development sites across the Jolaibari Assembly constituency on Saturday. The visit focused primarily on assessing the condition of the deteriorated national road in the Sachirambari region, which has remained unrepaired since the devastating floods of August last year.
Accompanied by South Tripura District Magistrate Mohammad Sajjad P, the minister reviewed areas severely affected by the floods, with a special emphasis on road damage that continues to disrupt traffic flow and pose safety risks for commuters. Despite the time elapsed, the National Highways Authority has yet to begin repair work, prompting concern from residents and local authorities alike.
Minister Noatia emphasized the urgent need for road rehabilitation and smoother mobility during discussions with district officials. “We are committed to resolving these long-pending issues and ensuring the safety and convenience of residents,” he stated.
As part of his visit, Minister Noatia also inaugurated the ‘Khelo Jolaibari Football Tournament,’ an initiative aimed at fostering community spirit and promoting youth engagement through sports. The event was attended by locals and officials, including BDO Jolaibari RD Block Nababrata Datta, Panchayat Chairman Tapas Datta, and BAC Chairman Ashok Mog.
Speaking at the event, the minister highlighted the dual focus of the government on infrastructure and social development. “This tournament is not just about sports — it’s about keeping our youth engaged, promoting a drug-free Tripura, and building a stronger community,” he said.
Local residents welcomed the minister’s visit, expressing optimism that the long-overdue road repairs and other development efforts will soon gain momentum and improve the quality of life in the region.
