Agartala, June 09: The Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Professor (Dr.) M Srinivas on Monday assured to support the Tripura government in further improving the health care services in the state.

Addressing a press conference here at Agartala on Monday, the director said that the state government has sought the cooperation of AIIMS on how to further improve it and provide health services to the patients.

“AIIMS will provide necessary advice and support to the state government for further improvement of medical services and infrastructure of AGMC and GBP Hospitals,” he said.

A delegation of doctors led by Director Professor (Dr.) M Srinivas visited the state on June 7 last. During their visit to the state, they held a meeting with Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha. In this meeting, emphasis was laid on improving services and health education at AGMC and GBP Hospitals.

At the press conference, AIIMS Director Prof (Dr) M Srinivas said, “We are visiting the state at the request of Chief Minister Prof (Dr) Manik Saha. The Chief Minister presented the government’s vision for the development of health services in Tripura to us.”

He said, “We visited all departments of AGMC and GBP hospitals, as well as TMC and IGM hospitals. During the visit, we exchanged views with doctors, health workers and patients. A detailed report on this will be prepared and submitted to Delhi.”

An action plan will be decided later in this regard, he said, adding that training arrangements will also be made through AIIMS in the coming days to make Tripura’s doctors, nurses and lab technicians more efficient in providing health services.

At the press conference, AIIMS delegation member Dr. Ramesh Agarwal said that AIIMS visited the state to provide necessary assistance for the development of health services in Tripura.
