Agartala, June 12: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated key developmental projects in Khowai worth Rs 8 Crore and said that the government is working consistently to improve infrastructure across all levels—from district and urban areas to village and panchayat regions. So far this year, developmental projects worth ₹580 crore have been inaugurated across the state, he added.

Dr Saha inaugurating a new police station and a newly constructed 50-seat tribal boys’ hostel at Baijalbari under Padmabil Block. The inauguration ceremony took place at the ground of Baijalbari Higher Secondary School.

Joining the event virtually, the Chief Minister also inaugurated several other public infrastructure projects, including, Block Public Health Unit at Mungiakami Primary Health Centre, Block Public Health Unit at Tulashikhar Primary Health Centre, Integrated Public Health Laboratory (IPHL) Cubical Chamber at Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital, Newly constructed Additional Office Building in Teliamura Block, Newly built classrooms at Metharai Bari Class XII School, New office building at the District Panchayat Resource Centre in Dhalabil under Khowai Block.

Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, MLA Ranjit Debbarma, Director General of Police Anurag, and Khowai District Magistrate Rajat Pant, along with other senior officials, were present at the event.

In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized Tripura’s unique blend of cultures and its long-standing tradition of brotherhood, which he said is highly respected across the country. He added that development gains momentum when harmony and unity among all sections of society are strong.

Dr Saha stated that numerous development projects are being implemented in the state under the guidance and inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing a public gathering during the inauguration of various infrastructure projects in Baijalbari, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s continued efforts toward making the people of the state self-reliant.

He noted that 54,000 self-help groups (SHGs) have been formed across Tripura, and 91,000 women have already become “Lakhpati Didis”—a testament to the success of the women empowerment initiatives. The state government is giving special priority to improving drinking water connectivity, housing, sanitation, healthcare, and education.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which allows every family to receive up to ₹5 lakh in free medical treatment annually. Alongside this, the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana has also been launched to further strengthen healthcare access for the people.

Dr. Saha emphasized the special attention being given to the development of tribal communities. Various infrastructure projects are being implemented in ADC (Autonomous District Council) areas, including Anganwadi centres for children, hostels for students, and marketing centres to promote trade and commerce. A budget of ₹1,400 crore has been allocated to uplift the living standards of tribal people, and an additional ₹169.82 crore was allocated in the last financial year for ADC development.

He further noted that the government is focusing on utilizing the state’s own resources such as agarwood, rubber, natural gas, and agriculture to drive socio-economic development and urged the people to come forward and actively participate in the process.
