Agartala, June 16: In a major crackdown, the Assam Rifles Jawan seized at least 170 cartoons of banned foreign cigarettes from Agartala Chandrapur area on Monday.

The seized contraband valued approximately ₹5.1 crore in international market. The Assam Rifles in its press communique on Monday stated that the seized items were handed over with the custom department for further investigation.

The operation was made based on a specific input. The successful operation underlines Assam Rifles’ unwavering commitment to curb illegal activities and safeguard the nation’s economic interest by maintaining strict vigilance along the bordering areas.
