Agartala, June 20: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday inaugurated 19 separate developmental projects worth over ₹32 crore at Sabroom in South Tripura district and claimed that developmental work worth ₹612 crore was inaugurated as of now till June this year in the state.

Emphasizing the importance of both infrastructure and human resource development, the Chief Minister said that true progress lies in holistic development and not just in physical infrastructure.

He highlighted that development across the state is being carried out with transparency and efficiency. “From January to June this year, developmental works worth ₹612 crore have been inaugurated in Tripura,” he informed, adding that the projects range from construction of new school buildings and office complexes to healthcare infrastructure and tribal welfare initiatives.

State Cooperation Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, South Tripura Zilla Parishad Chairperson Deepak Dutta, Sabroom Municipal Chairperson Rama Poddar De, MDC Kongjang Mog, social worker Dipayan Chowdhury, former MLA Shankar Roy, and District Magistrate Mohammad Sajjad P, among others were present in the programme.

In his address, CM Dr Saha reiterated the state government’s commitment to building a prosperous India in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat”. He underlined key areas of focus including education, healthcare, connectivity, fire services, and public office infrastructure.

The Chief Minister noted that ₹1,400 crore is being invested in tribal welfare. Nine super-specialty healthcare departments are now operational in the state. Over 19,000 government jobs have been provided through transparent recruitment. An additional 5,000 people have been employed through other means and 56,000 self-help groups have been formed across Tripura, with a focus on women empowerment.

“Initiatives such as Lakhpati Didi and Drone Didi are being implemented, providing women with targeted skill training. Employment generation in sectors like pineapple cultivation, rubber plantations, fisheries, animal husbandry, and tourism is also being prioritized,” Dr Saha added.

Meanwhile, Dr Saha said that additionally, several major projects are underway, including a new state hospital, fisheries college, Dhamma Deepa International Buddhist University, Nursing and paramedical colleges, an open university and Technical education institutes.
