Agartala, June 23: The Tripura Olympic Association marked Olympic Day with much enthusiasm and grandeur on Monday, highlighting the state’s growing commitment to nurturing future Olympians.

The celebrations began early in the morning with a vibrant rally, aiming to spread awareness about Olympic values and promote sports culture across the state.

The state Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy had flagged off the rally to mark the day and emphasized that Tripura’s young athletes have the potential to represent India at the Olympic Games in the near future.

“Through the efforts of the Olympic Association and the state’s evolving sports infrastructure, our children are being prepared to compete on the global stage,” the minister said. He expressed hope that, following in the footsteps of Padma Shri Dipa Karmakar, many more athletes from Tripura will make the state proud at international sporting events like the Olympics.

Chairman of the Tripura Olympic Association Ratan Saha; Padma Shri Dipa Karmakar, President of the Association; S.B. Nath, Director of the Youth Affairs & Sports Department; and Krishnapada Sarkar, Joint Secretary of the Association were present in the event.

Members of the Tripura Olympic Association as well as athletes from various sports federations and associations across the state participated in the rally. The rally started from Rabindra Bhavan and passed through key roads of the city, and concluded at the starting point, creating a festive and motivational atmosphere.
