South Tripura, June 26 — In a heartwarming gesture, former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb today personally handed over a laptop to Rahul Debnath, a specially-abled student from South Tripura, to support his higher education journey.

Rahul, who is approximately 80% physically challenged, recently passed the Higher Secondary (HS) examination in the Science stream with 66% marks, securing first division despite facing numerous personal and financial hardships.

Rahul had earlier expressed his wish for a laptop to continue his studies and had reached out to Biplab Kumar Deb with this request. Acknowledging the determination and potential shown by the young student, Deb fulfilled the promise by directly presenting the laptop to him.

Hailing from a modest background, Rahul’s mother works as a domestic helper to sustain the family. Despite these challenges, Rahul has emerged as an inspiration to many in the region for his academic achievements and resilience.

Speaking during the brief handover ceremony, Deb praised Rahul’s spirit and commitment to education. He emphasized that every student, regardless of their circumstances, deserves equal opportunities to succeed. “Rahul’s dedication is commendable. We must come forward to support such bright and determined minds,” Deb said.

The gesture has been widely appreciated in the local community and on social media, highlighting the importance of recognizing and encouraging talent, especially among differently-abled students.

Rahul expressed his gratitude to Biplab Deb and reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing higher education in the field of science. His story continues to inspire many, showing that with support and determination, barriers can be overcome.
