Agartala, June 27: In a heartfelt gesture of solidarity with rural traditions and grassroots communities, popular Boxnagar MLA Tofazzal Hossain surprised residents of Ashabari village on Saturday morning by joining local farmers in a traditional fishing activity.
While on his morning walk, the MLA noticed farmers irrigating their fields and catching fish in the muddy waters. Without hesitation, he stepped into the water, rolled up his sleeves, and joined them—bringing joy and excitement to the villagers.
The spontaneous act left a lasting impression. One farmer remarked, “We’ve never seen an MLA interact with us like this. Earlier leaders wouldn’t even get out of their vehicles. But Tofazzal Babu stops his car, talks to us, fishes in the field, even drives tractors to help in farming.”
Speaking to the media, the MLA said, “Scenes like these take me back to my childhood—fishing and farming with my father. Agriculture is deeply rooted in my heart.”
He further added, “I want to work shoulder-to-shoulder with farmers. They are the real heroes of our society.”
During his visit, one farmer mentioned owning a tractor but expressed the need for another. The MLA immediately assured him of assistance. A senior villager said, “In the past, we had to chase officials and MLAs for help. Now they come to us and deliver agricultural tools at our doorstep. This is what real change looks like.”
Locals praised the MLA’s humility and approachability. “Tofazzal Hossain is not just a public representative—he’s family. He understands our struggles and connects with our emotions. We want such a people’s leader who truly knows the soil and feels our pain,” said a resident.
