Agartala, July 05: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday chaired the 107th board meeting of the Tripura Housing and Construction Board (THCB) here in the conference hall of the secretariat and said that the state government is committed to ensuring affordable housing for low-income families.
The Chief Minister emphasized that government-constructed flats must be developed in alignment with the needs of the people, with utmost priority given to maintaining high standards of construction quality. “The objective is to provide accessible and dignified housing to the economically weaker sections of society. To achieve this, quality must never be compromised,” he remarked.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of several ongoing projects under the Housing and Construction Board. He took detailed updates on the construction of the Tourism and Cultural Hub at Gandhi Ghat in Agartala. Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Secretary of the Information & Cultural Affairs Department, briefed him on the status of the project.
Additionally, the Chief Minister sought updates on other infrastructure projects across the state including the construction of Eklavya Model Residential Schools, the proposed Eco Park at Mirza, the Grand Stand at Udaipur, a 100-bed Girls’ Hostel at Ampi, and the Youth Hostel at Ambassa. He also reviewed plans for the proposed Convention Centre near the Amtali Bypass area and stressed the need for maintaining proper infrastructure in all government construction projects within Agartala city and its adjoining areas.
Public Works Department Secretary Kiran Gitte presented the proposed budgets of the Tripura Housing and Construction Board for the fiscal years 2024–25 and 2025–26. Chief Executive Officer S.K. Rampal shared a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation highlighting decisions taken during the previous board meeting and the progress made in their implementation.
Senior officials and engineers from the Tripura Housing and Construction Board were present in the meeting, where discussions focused on timely completion, transparency, and quality assurance in all housing and infrastructure development projects.
