Agartala, July 5: In a strategic move to strengthen counter-terrorism preparedness and inter-agency coordination, a high-intensity Multi-Agency counter-terrorism exercise was successfully conducted at the Tripura Secretariat complex in Agartala on Friday.

The exercise brought together key security forces, including the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Tripura Police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), and specialised units such as the Tripura Police Dog Squad and Bomb Squad. The coordinated effort simulated a high-threat scenario, aimed at testing response time, crisis management, and threat neutralisation protocols.

Security personnel demonstrated swift tactical response by cordoning off the Secretariat area, conducting precision-based room clearance operations, and neutralising a simulated terrorist threat within the premises. A key segment of the drill involved the successful rescue of hostages and detection of mock explosives inside the complex.

The Tripura Police Dog Squad and Bomb Squad played a vital role in securing the area, scanning for hidden threats, and ensuring that the complex was rendered safe. Their performance highlighted the crucial role of specialised units in high-risk operations.

The drill served as both a preparedness test and a training opportunity, allowing participating agencies to fine-tune coordination mechanisms and identify areas for improvement. The joint exercise underscored the readiness of Tripura’s security forces to protect critical government infrastructure and respond to emerging threats.

Officials noted that such collaborative exercises are essential for ensuring a robust crisis response system and fostering synergy among multiple agencies. It also reflects the growing emphasis on integrated security measures across the region.

The successful execution of the operation reaffirmed the commitment of Tripura’s security apparatus to public safety and national security, while sending a strong message about the state’s capability to handle complex security challenges.
