Agartala, July 10: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Wednesday stated that the state government is committed to transforming Agartala Government Dental College (AGDC) into one of the premier educational institutions in Northeast India. He made the remarks while presiding over the governing body meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti of AGDC and IGM Hospital, held at the college’s conference hall.
The Chief Minister revealed that infrastructure development works worth nearly ₹200 crore are currently underway at the dental college. These include construction of new academic buildings, hostel facilities, and overall modernization of the campus.

He emphasized that the government has managed to commence academic sessions at the college within a remarkably short period.
Highlighting the importance of planning and cleanliness, Dr. Saha urged officials to ensure that all hospital premises remain clean and that new infrastructure is built with proper planning and oversight. He also stressed the need for robust monitoring systems to maintain academic standards and infrastructure upkeep.

The Chief Minister reviewed various initiatives undertaken by the Rogi Kalyan Samiti and instructed concerned officials to ensure efficient patient care at IGM Hospital, including the safety and convenience of patients’ relatives.
During the meeting, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte provided a detailed overview of major schemes like Ayushman Bharat, the National Protection Mission, and ongoing activities of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti at IGM Hospital.

The session concluded with an interactive session between the Chief Minister and faculty members of the dental college, where he encouraged them to work diligently toward building a brighter future for the institution.

Dr. Saha reiterated that the state’s vision to develop AGDC as a future education hub hinges on both infrastructural excellence and academic rigor.
