Agartala, July 11 – Kishore Barman, who was inducted into the Tripura Cabinet on July 3, has been officially assigned key portfolios, as per a government notification issued on Friday.
According to the notification, which was issued on the advice of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and signed by Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Barman will now hold the charge of three significant departments: Higher Education, Panchayat, and General Administration (Political).
These departments were previously under the direct charge of Chief Minister Manik Saha. The reassignment of portfolios comes as part of a broader effort to distribute administrative responsibilities and streamline governance in the state.
“In pursuance of the provisions of Rule-5 of the Rules of Executive Business of the Government of Tripura, and on the advice of the Chief Minister, the Government has allocated the business of the Government to the newly inducted minister,” the notification stated.
Barman’s inclusion in the cabinet and his subsequent portfolio allocation reflect the government’s continued focus on strengthening rural governance, higher education reforms, and administrative efficiency.
The Panchayat department plays a crucial role in implementing rural development programs, while the Higher Education portfolio is central to driving educational reforms in Tripura. The General Administration (Political) department is key in managing the political coordination and internal administration of the state government.
Barman’s elevation and responsibilities signal his growing importance in the state’s political landscape. Observers see this move as part of the BJP-led state government’s effort to infuse new energy into its cabinet and improve outreach across key sectors.
The Chief Minister is expected to continue overseeing other crucial departments as the state gears up for ongoing development programs and political preparations ahead of the next electoral cycle.
