Agartala, July 13: The Tripura Tribal Welfare department to launch Light Motor Vehicle training for the tribal youths of the state under Chief Minister Tribal Development Mission (CMTDM) from August 20 next.

The initiative aims to empower tribal youths through skill development and self-employment opportunities.

According to the official statement, a total of 39 eligible Scheduled Tribe candidates including 38 males and 1 female have been selected for the training. The training will be conducted at the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR), functioning under the State Transport Department.

Although the initial target was to train 40 candidates, the department received 44 applications from interested tribal youths, reflecting high enthusiasm for the initiative. As per a recent notification from the Office of the Transport Commissioner, the training programme is scheduled to be held from August 20 to 23 this year.

The core objective of this initiative is to equip tribal youth with professional driving skills to enhance their employability in both government and private sectors. This aligns with the government’s broader vision of enabling sustainable livelihoods and fostering economic independence among the tribal population.
