Agartala, July 18: In a decisive step to address growing concerns over illegal immigration, the West Tripura District Police has constituted a District-Level Special Task Force (STF) to identify, detect, and deport Bangladeshi and Rohingya nationals unlawfully residing within the district.
An official order issued by Dr. Kiran Kumar K., IPS, Superintendent of Police, West Tripura, confirmed the formation of a 15-member STF team comprising senior police officers and Officers-in-Charge (OCs) from multiple police stations across the district. The STF will focus exclusively on individuals from Bangladesh and Myanmar (Rohingyas) who are staying in the region without legal documentation.
The Special Task Force include –Debasish Saha, DySP, DIB West (Team Leader), Insp. Paritosh Das, OC, West Agartala PS, Insp. Rana Chatterjee, OC, East Agartala PS, Insp. Prajit Malakar, OC, NCC PS, Insp. Krishnadhan Sarkar, OC, Bodhjungnagar PS, SI Abhijit Mandal, OC, Airport PS, Insp. Amal Debbarma, OC, Mandwai PS, Insp. Raju Datta, OC, Jirania PS, Insp. Sashanka Das, OC, Ranirbazar PS, Insp. Rajkumar Jamatia, OC, Radhapur PS, Insp. Mangesh Patari, OC, Siddhai PS, Insp. Sahadeb Das, OC, Lefunga PS, Insp. Himadri Sarkar, OC, Amtali PS, Insp. Bijoy Das, OC, A.D. Nagar PS and Insp. Dilip Debbarma, OC, Srinagar PS
The task force is empowered to swiftly verify the identity of suspected illegal immigrants. If confirmed as undocumented Bangladeshi or Rohingya nationals, the STF will undertake the the steps including Capturing biometric data (fingerprints and facial photographs), entering demographic details into the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Foreigners Identification Portal (https://identification.mha.gov.in) and coordinate with the Border Security Force (BSF) for their deportation to the respective country of origin.
Additionally, the STF is tasked with maintaining a structured reporting system, including weekly, fortnightly, and monthly updates on operations. Dy SP Debasish Saha will supervise the data compilation and submission process.
This initiative marks a proactive move by the West Tripura Police to curb illegal immigration and ensure better monitoring and accountability across border-sensitive zones.
