Agartala, July 18:
Candidates who appeared in the 2022 STGT (Selection Test for Graduate Teachers) examination staged a protest near the Chief Minister’s official residence on Thursday, demanding immediate declaration of the exam results and swift completion of the recruitment process. The protest concluded with police detaining several candidates and dispersing the rest.

According to sources, the STGT 2022 notification was released nearly three years ago, and thousands of qualified aspirants appeared for the examination in hopes of securing government teaching positions. However, even as 2025 progresses, the results remain pending, triggering growing frustration among the candidates.

On Friday, the aspirants once again assembled near the CM’s residence in Agartala, holding placards and shouting slogans against the government’s delay. They accused the authorities of neglecting their concerns and showing little urgency in resolving the issue.

“We waited patiently for years. Now, a new STGT notification has been issued for 2025, but many of us have crossed the age limit. How is this fair?” questioned one protestor. The candidates are concerned that due to the long delay, several among them are no longer eligible to appear in fresh exams due to age restrictions.

The protestors demanded that the government immediately publish the STGT 2022 results and complete the recruitment process without further postponement. They also urged the authorities to consider age relaxation for candidates affected by the delay, ensuring that they are not unfairly disqualified from government job opportunities.

The protest ended with police intervention as several demonstrators were detained and escorted from the high-security area.

The issue has once again brought focus to the growing discontent among unemployed youth in the state and the urgent need for transparent and timely recruitment processes.
