Agartala, July 19: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Saturday paid a visit to the traditional Ker Puja at the historic Ujjayanta Palace.
Speaking to the media, he highlighted the cultural and spiritual significance of the centuries-old ritual, which has been observed since the reign of Maharaja Trilochana to ensure the welfare and protection of the people from evil forces.
Ker Puja, deeply rooted in Tripura’s royal and tribal traditions, is performed 14 days after the Kharchi Puja. While originally held exclusively within the royal premises, it is now also observed with devotion across tribal-dominated villages throughout the state.
During his visit, the Chief Minister remained outside the designated sacred area (Ker boundary) as per the ritual’s customs, spoke with the priests, and received blessings.
Extending greetings on the occasion, CM Manik Saha said, “Ker Puja symbolizes the collective prayer for peace and protection of the people of Tripura. It reflects our deep-rooted cultural unity and heritage.” He also conveyed his best wishes for the well-being of all citizens, especially the tribal communities.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, and social worker Bipin Debbarma.
