Agartala, July 22: Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers marked National Flag Day with a heartfelt celebration at Bela Saha Smriti Vidya Mandir, a primary school adopted by the brand in a remote corner of the Sundarbans. The event highlighted the spirit of patriotism while emphasizing education and community development.
National Flag Day, observed across India on July 22, commemorates the adoption of the Indian tricolour. At the event, students were given an engaging and informative session on the history, symbolism, and significance of the national flag to instill a deeper sense of national pride.
The young learners enthusiastically participated in cultural performances including patriotic songs, dances, and recitations. Their enthusiasm culminated in a powerful rendition of the national anthem, energized by their new understanding of the flag’s meaning.
As part of its continued support for the school, Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers presented a cheque of ₹5,50,000 to the school’s managing committee. The funds will go toward the overall development of the school. Additionally, each student received educational materials and an umbrella.
Renowned choreographer Sudarshan Chakraborty graced the event as Chief Guest, while Tapan Pattanayak, President of Rotary Club of Calcutta Old City, attended as Special Guest. Rupak Saha, Director of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers, presided over the celebration.
“National Flag Day is the perfect opportunity to teach young minds about our country’s legacy,” said Sudarshan Chakraborty. Tapan Pattanayak added, “It’s essential that children understand the pride and purpose behind our flag.”
Rupak Saha shared, “This school, named after my late mother Bela Saha, is our way of continuing her legacy of spreading knowledge.”
