Agartala, Jul 20:
Veteran journalist and News Editor of Tripura’s leading Bengali daily Dainik Sambad, Pradip Dutta Bhowmik, passed away on Sunday afternoon after a prolonged illness. He was 73 and had been battling cancer. Bhowmik had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi, where he breathed his last around 3:45 PM.

His mortal remains will be brought back to Agartala from Delhi AIIMS on Monday around noon.

Pradip Dutta Bhowmik had been associated with Dainik Sambad since its early years and served as News Editor during the tenure of its founding Editor, Bhupen Dutta Bhowmik. He was widely respected for his editorial vision, commitment to journalistic ethics, and deep understanding of the socio-political landscape of Tripura.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed profound grief over his demise. Taking to social media, the Chief Minister wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of veteran journalist and News Editor of Dainik Sambad, Pradip Dutta Bhowmik. I was in regular touch with him and his family during his treatment. His loss is an irreparable one for all of us.”

He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul’s eternal peace. The media fraternity and well-wishers across the state also mourned his passing.
