Agartala, July 21: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday attended a state level felicitation ceremony held for the schools achieving 100% pass rate and said that a school’s success depends on its students, teachers, and overall educational environment. A truly successful school is one where students receive quality education and are encouraged to develop their talents, Dr Saha said.

Addressing the gathering of students and teachers in the event, the Chief Minister said that the government has taken various initiatives to ensure a healthy and inclusive learning atmosphere for every student.

Out of 316 schools that secured 100% pass results, 50 were symbolically honored during the program. The Chief Minister personally handed over commemorative mementos and certificates to the representatives of these schools. A special booklet highlighting the achievements of the Department of School Education was also unveiled on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that the role of teachers is central to a school’s success. “Teachers are the true architects of human development,” he stated, underscoring their critical role in shaping the future of students. He urged educators to not only impart academic knowledge but also to help students overcome their shortcomings and challenges.

Dr. Saha stressed that true education is not limited to books alone — students must move forward keeping the welfare of society and the nation in mind. He called for a collective effort from teachers, parents, and students to build strong relationships that foster quality education. “Only then,” he said, “can the central and state governments’ goals for educational excellence be realized.”

He further urged the schools that achieved 100% success not to become complacent, but to maintain and improve upon this standard consistently.

In his speech, the Chief Minister highlighted that students of Tripura are no less capable than those of other states and only require proper guidance and a focused vision. He outlined key government initiatives aimed at transforming the education sector.

He also emphasized ongoing teacher training programs to enhance teaching capabilities. Referring to Tripura’s recent designation as a “Fully Literate State”—the third in the country after Mizoram and Goa—Dr. Saha noted that this recognition is a testimony to the state’s progressive education policies.

The Chief Minister added that infrastructural development in education is equally prioritized. In FY 2024–25, new buildings have been constructed for 44 schools at a cost of ₹153 crore, while infrastructure of 346 schools has been renovated at a cost of ₹80.87 crore. For FY 2025–26, plans include new buildings for 30 schools (₹264 crore) and infrastructure renovation for 123 schools (₹151.21 crore).
