Agartala, July 21: A high-level video conference was convened on Monday here at the Secretariat conference hall to review preparations for the procurement of paddy at Minimum Support Price (MSP) during the current Rabi season. The meeting was jointly organised by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Tripura.
Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Ratan Lal Nath, along with Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Sushanta Chowdhury, attended the session. The meeting aimed to ensure transparency and efficiency in the MSP-based procurement process, while safeguarding the interests of farmers across the state.
Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons of various Panchayat Samitis, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Block Development Officers (BDOs), Deputy Directors of Agriculture, Agricultural Supervisors, and officials from both departments joined the meeting via video conference.
The meeting mainly focused on logistical preparedness, inter-departmental coordination, and administrative protocols necessary for the smooth implementation of the procurement drive. Emphasis was laid on fair pricing, timely procurement, and facilitating hassle-free participation of farmers in the process.
The ministers reiterated the government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare and urged all departments to work in close coordination to ensure the success of the initiative.
