Agartala, July 2: Emphasizing the need for holistic development in rural areas, the state Panchayat Minister Kishore Barman has called for the effective and timely implementation of central and state government schemes to ensure the benefits reach all eligible citizens.

Speaking at a district-level review meeting of the Panchayat Department held at the Gomati District Panchayat Raj Training Institute Conference Hall on Monday, the minister said, “All sections of society must be able to access the advantages of various development schemes without hurdles.”

During the session, District Panchayat Officer Aniruddha Bhattacharjee presented a comprehensive report on the implementation of various schemes. He informed that several infrastructure projects have been undertaken in Gomati district using funds allocated by the 15th Finance Commission for the fiscal year 2024–25.

The district has received ₹39.63 lakh under tied and untied grants this year, of which ₹17.75 lakh has already been spent on development projects.

Bhattacharjee also noted that the Central Government has awarded Gomati district ₹5 crore under the ‘Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar’ for excellence in panchayat development.
