Agartala, July 24: The Assistant Professor of Ramthakur general degree college in Agartala was suspended after he was found involved in a serious malpractise, forgery and gross violation of admission norms of the government college.

A report was published in a Bengali local daily on July 19 last stating that Dr Abhijit Nath, Assistant Professor of Ramthakur College, West Tripura District, has been found involved in an illegal and unauthorized activities in connection with the ongoing admission process in the said College for 1″ Semester Under Graduate Course 2025-26.

The report also reflected that on July 18 the College authority came to learn that some students whose names were not included in the official admission list were in possession of fee cards bearing forged signatures of the College Authority.

According to the order issued by the Higher Education department on July 23 last, the assistant professor is put under suspension. The order stated, “As per the preliminary information received from the College it is found that 69 cases unauthorised admissions were found. It appears that Dr. Nath. Asst. Prof., Ramthakur College, was involved in a serious malpractice, forgery and a gross violation of admission norms.”

It is further ordered that during the period that this order shall remain in force, the headquarters of Dr Abhijit Nath, Assistant Professor of Ramthakur College, West Tripura District would be at Agartala. West Tripura and he shall not leave the headquarters without obtaining prior permission of the undersigned.
