Agartala 25 July: Tripura Central University is not free from corruption. Tripura Central University is getting involved in one corruption case after another due to the influence of a section of administrative officials coming from outside the state. As a result, the reputation of the state is being tarnished nationwide. Despite requests from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, the outside officials are not stopping looting money in crooked ways. As a result, what is meant to be is happening.

This time, allegations of corruption have been raised against the new Finance Officer of Tripura Central University. On December 17, 2024, the former Finance Officer of Jadavpur University, Kolkata, joined the post of Finance Officer of Tripura University. Surprisingly, within six months of joining Tripura University as Finance Officer, he was involved in allegations of corruption. And after this matter came to light, there has been a buzz across Tripura University.

It is learnt that for a long time, the Finance Branch has been awarding contracts to Tripura University. The Finance Branch is responsible for deciding which organization in the country and state will be awarded the contract.

Branch. Which is an exception in India. In other central universities of the country and even state universities, the decision on which organization will be given contract work is made under the supervision of the university’s register branch. Which is not the case for Tripura Central University for some unknown reason. Not only that, but this rule has also been made in Tripura University that the responsibility of giving work to the contractor organization will be through the finance branch, excluding the register branch. Which has been done in violation of the policies of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Allegedly, a finance officer from Jadavpur University saw this issue after joining Tripura University. He even became busy to utilize this opportunity. And this issue came to light on April 30, 2025. On this day, a finance officer and the finance branch awarded a tender of about 42 lakh 16 thousand 706 rupees to a computer center located on Central Road, Jadavpur, Kolkata, for the installation of 60 computers at Tripura Central University. How can a finance officer give a contract for a work worth more than lakhs of rupees? Various questions have been raised about this. Not only that, this family and head got the tender for providing 60 computers (price of 1 computer is 59558 rupees) to the organization.

The new finance officer of Tripura University is also a former employee of Jadavpur University. However, it is easy to imagine how this out-of-state organization got the contract to provide computers to Tripura University.

The complaint is that Tripura Central University’s “GEM website” was used as a tool to win this huge tender. It is learnt that the quotation for the Tripura University tender was sent to this Jadavpur-based computer company before the tender notice was published. As a result, this company got the job very easily.

Allegations Sampriti Tripura Central University has renovated a road from Gate No. 3 to the main administrative building gate. Surprisingly, the university administration had sanctioned Rs 27 lakh for this work. Now, after the new finance officer joined the work, a finance officer has increased the contract price for the repair of 200 meters of road from Rs 27 lakh to Rs 56 lakh overnight. It is learnt that Sampriti has gone to the Education Ministry with evidence of these allegations. Now, the Tripura University authorities have decided to conduct a separate investigation against a finance officer. This is what most of the administrative officers, professors and other employees of Tripura University have demanded. Not only that, it is reported that the evidence of corruption of a finance officer is also going to the state government. So that an investigation is done through the Crime Branch.
