Sabroom, July 26: In a major step towards strengthening the rural economy and ensuring fair prices for farmers, a new Rural Agricultural Market Complex was inaugurated on Saturday at Battala Bazaar in Sabroom.
The initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to modernize and upgrade rural markets across the state. Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has inaugurated the market complex.
The minister said that the newly inaugurated market building aims to provide a dedicated and improved platform for local farmers to sell their agricultural produce directly. This is expected to reduce dependency on middlemen, help farmers receive fair value for their products, and ultimately boost their income, he added.
He said, “I firmly believe that this new market infrastructure will significantly strengthen the rural economy of this region and play a vital role in improving the living standards of our local farmers.”
The state government has been taking various steps to promote rural marketing infrastructure, including modernizing existing markets and building new facilities in different parts of the state. These initiatives are designed to empower farmers, enhance market access, and contribute to the vision of a self-reliant rural economy, he said.
Authorities have expressed confidence that the new marketing complex will not only benefit local producers but also encourage more organized and transparent trade in agricultural commodities.
