Agartala, July 30: An awareness workshop was organized on Wednesday at Nazrul Kalakshetra in Fatikroy to raise voices against the ongoing social evil of child marriage, a practice that has plagued society since ancient times and continues to pose a serious threat.

Minister Sudhangshu Das has attended the programme and emphasized on urgent need to eliminate the harmful practice of child marriage. While administrative action is crucial, the responsibility also lies with every conscious citizen to stand against such social evils and bring about meaningful change in the community, he added.

The programme was held through personal initiative and with the support of the Unakoti District Education Officer. It aimed to educate the public about the severe physical and psychological impacts of early marriage, especially on young girls.
