Hyderabad, August 3:
The internal rift in the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) widened on Sunday when K. Kavitha, MLC and daughter of party chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao, openly criticized senior party leader and former minister G. Jagadish Reddy.
Speaking to the media, Kavitha alleged that certain “insiders” within the BRS were behind derogatory remarks made by suspended Congress MLC Chintapandu Naveen, also known as Teenmaar Mallanna, against her. She claimed that a top leader of the party orchestrated the attack, and the silence of BRS leaders indicated their complicity.
Directly naming Jagadish Reddy, Kavitha called him “Lilliput” and accused him of destroying the party in the Nalgonda district. “If KCR is not there, who are you? You survive only in his shadow,” she remarked.
She added that other smaller leaders who joined the party later were also questioning her credibility. “Telangana society will not spare such leaders,” she warned.
Kavitha alleged that these internal rivalries were aimed at isolating her. “Your attempts to sideline me will fail. I believe in karma,” she said.
This public spat follows a leak of her confidential letter to KCR, after which Kavitha accused some leaders—including her brother and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao—of surrounding KCR with “devils,” despite considering KCR a “god.”
Responding on X, Jagadish Reddy expressed sympathy for her but denied wrongdoing, saying she was echoing words used by KCR’s political rivals.
Separately, Kavitha criticized both Congress and BJP over the issue of 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs). She announced a planned 72-hour hunger strike by Telangana Jagruthi, starting after court approval, to highlight the grievances of 112 BC communities in the state. She accused both national parties of failing to support BC reservation.
