Agartala, August 5: The increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy has brought renewed enthusiasm among farmers across the state, said food and civil supplies minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday.

Joining the paddy procurement, which began from Tuesday in Jirania, the minister claimed that the standard of living of farmers across the state is improving, and the families are moving towards self-reliance.

In line with the state government’s goal of doubling farmers’ income, the Department of Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs, along with the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, has once again initiated the procurement of paddy from state farmers at the MSP through the Food Corporation of India (FCI).

The paddy procurement has begun at the Inter-State Truck Terminus located in Madhavbari in Jirania. This step is expected to significantly benefit local farmers by ensuring fair prices for their produce.
