Amaravati, Aug 18 – The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday announced the creation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to execute major projects in the upcoming capital city of Amaravati. The decision was taken at the 51st meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The SPV will oversee prestigious ventures including the greenfield airport, NTR statue, sports city, smart industries, riverfront development, inner ring road, and ropeway. The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that all projects under the SPV are executed to international standards, with iconic designs reflecting the cultural ethos of Andhra Pradesh.

The CRDA also approved land pooling for a gems and jewellery park under the ‘Gold Cluster’ project in Mangalagiri, with 78 acres at Atmakur earmarked under the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS). The project is expected to attract ₹5,000 crore in investments and generate 20,000 jobs.

To strengthen infrastructure, the authority sanctioned ₹904 crore for LPS Zones covering 29 village panchayats, aimed at improving drains, water supply, and other critical amenities. Proposals cleared include a ₹411 crore sewage treatment plant, a ₹376.6 crore water distribution centre, and an additional 100 acres each for VIT and SRM universities.

The Chief Minister also asked officials to finalise an iconic design for the Krishna River bridge, suggesting inspiration from the Kuchipudi dance form. He stressed that Amaravati’s unique geography should be leveraged to create landmark constructions that drive both development and economic activity.

Naidu further directed that project details be uploaded online for public transparency and instructed officials to speed up construction so that Amaravati’s transformation becomes visibly evident this season.

The meeting was attended by Minister P. Narayana, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, and senior officials from CRDA, Municipal, and ADC departments.
