Agartala, Aug 22: A workshop on “Strengthening Sub-National SDG Monitoring” was inaugurated today at Geetanjali Guest House, organized by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) in collaboration with the Tripura Government and UNDP.
Planning (Statistics) Minister Bikas Debbarma inaugurated the programme, highlighting the importance of the Statistics Department as a data-driven wing crucial for building a developed India. He appreciated the initiative and extended gratitude to the delegates who had come from different parts of the country.
Addressing the workshop, MoSPI’s Additional Director General S.C. Malik said the event would play a vital role in strengthening SDG monitoring and lauded the commendable work being carried out by the Tripura Government in this field.
Special Secretary of the Statistics Department, Abhishek Chandra, elaborated on the state government’s comprehensive vision regarding SDGs. NITI Aayog Adviser Rajib Kumar Saha was also present on the occasion.
Delegates from seven states, including Tripura, participated in the workshop, which focused on enhancing data-driven strategies for achieving Sustainable Development Goals at the sub-national level.
