Agartala, Aug 31: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday said that police is given free hand to maintain law and order situation in the state. Anyone who are intended to unleash violence and create unrest in the state would invite strict legal action, Dr Saha said.

The chief minister was addressing a gathering at Booth No. 30 of Asharambari assembly constituency in Khowai district, where the Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat programme was aired.

Earlier last month, the activists of the TIPRA Motha party allegedly launched attack on the BJP Karyakartas during the time of airing of Mann Ki Baat programme. Responding to the incident, the Chief minister labelled it as shameful incident.

Dr Saha said that the government is working tirelessly to improve the so up economic status of the indigenous tribes of Tripura. The chief minister underlined the welfare schemes of the government and said that the livelihood of the Janjatis in Tripura is gradually improving.

BJP state general secretary Bipin Debbarma and other tribals leaders of the BJP Janjati Morcha were present.
