Agartala, September 2: In a significant political development, as many as 610 voters belonging to 200 families from different political parties joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Killa Bazaar in Gomati district on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha formally welcomed the new members and said that people have realized genuine development of the state and the country is possible only under the BJP. He alleged that during 35 years of CPM-Congress rule, the state witnessed a culture of killings, violence, and terrorism, whereas the BJP believes in clean politics.

Dr. Saha further noted that under previous regimes, the tribal community was merely treated as a vote bank.

MLA Rampada Jamatia, BJP state general secretary Bipin Debbarma, and Mandal president Amar Jamatia among others were present in the joining programme.
