Agartala, Sep 02: Panchayat Minister Kishore Barman emphasized the importance of preparing a proper roadmap at the Panchayat level to ensure development reaches the grassroots. Speaking at a review meeting of the Panchayat Department held at the Khowai District Administration Conference Hall, he said block administrations must work closer to the people to achieve effective implementation of development initiatives.
“The state and central governments are committed to delivering the benefits of development to the most marginalized sections of society. Panchayats and blocks play a crucial role in this process. Proper execution at the Panchayat level ensures that the common people reap the maximum benefits,” the Minister added.
He urged various departments to maintain coordination to ensure that ongoing development programs improve the living standards of rural communities. Highlighting challenges faced at the Panchayat level, he called for identifying problems and taking corrective measures to maximize benefits for the people.
Khowai Zilla Parishad Chairperson Aparna Singh Ray (Dutta) called upon all stakeholders to extend support in making Khowai one of the leading districts in terms of development. District Magistrate Rajat Panth stressed completing projects within the stipulated timelines. During the meeting, Zilla Parishad Secretary Rajib Pal presented a detailed overview of ongoing projects in the district through a PowerPoint presentation.
The meeting was attended by Khowai Panchayat Samiti Chairman Tinku Bhattacharya, Teliamura Panchayat Samiti Chairman Deepa Deb, and chairpersons of various B.A.Cs including Bhanlal Rankhal, Indrani Debbarma, Prashanta Debbarma, Pradip Debbarma, and Sunil Debbarma. Also present were Panchayat Department Director Prasun De, Sub-Divisional Magistrates Nirmal Kumar (Khowai) and Abhedananda Baidya (Teliamura), DFO Ashok Kumar, BDOs from different blocks of Khowai, and officials from various departments.
