Agartala, Sep 02: Under the National Livestock Mission, a flagship initiative of the Department of Animal Resources Development, progressive farmer Badal Kaloi has set a new precedent by establishing a large-scale pig farm in Charan Mani Para area of the Teliamura Assembly constituency.

Minister Sudhangshu Das accompanied by the Chief Whip of the Tripura State Legislative Assembly on Tuesday visited the farm. Minister Sudhangshu Das said that the farm, constructed with financial assistance under the scheme including a 50% subsidy amounted to an investment of approximately ₹50 lakh. Today, the initiative has made Mr. Kaloi self-reliant and a model for other farmers in the region, he added.

During a visit to the farm, the minister along with the officials from the Department of Animal Resources Development inspected the facilities and assured the farmer of continued support for the project.

Das said that the move highlights the potential of government-backed livestock initiatives in promoting rural entrepreneurship and boosting local livelihoods.
