Agartala, Sep 08: A discussion meeting was organized on Monday at Agartala Town Hall under the initiative of the Tripura State Blood Transfusion Council. The event aimed to promote voluntary blood donation within the Agartala Municipal Corporation area.
The meeting was inaugurated by the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation and MLA, Deepak Majumdar. In his address, the Mayor emphasized the critical importance of blood for society and urged people to consistently participate in blood donation drives. He remarked, “Blood donation is one of the greatest acts of service in human society. It builds a bond between the donor and the recipient, creating a relationship beyond bloodlines.”
He further called upon clubs, social organizations, and the youth community across the city to actively encourage and participate in blood donation efforts. The Mayor also urged women to come forward and contribute to this life-saving cause.
During the event, Pradip Chanda, Zonal Chairman of the North Zone of the Agartala Municipal Corporation, spoke about the significance of blood donation in society.
Other dignitaries present at the event included Mayor-in-Council members Hiralal Debnath and Bapi Das, social worker Asim Bhattacharya, and Deputy Director of the Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Department, Dr. Subhasis Roy. Members from various clubs and social organizations under the Agartala Municipal Corporation also participated in the program.
The event concluded with a call for collective efforts to make voluntary blood donation a sustained and widespread movement in the state.
