Agartala, Sept 10: Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, three landmark legislations — the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) 2023 — have been introduced to modernize India’s criminal justice system, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday.
Dr Saha attended the state level exhibition on new criminal laws here at Agartala Hapania Indoor Exhibition Hall.
Dr Saha said that these citizen-centric laws aim to enhance the quality of justice delivery while ensuring greater transparency and speed in the judicial process.
Addressing the gathering Dr Saha said, “Tripura has set a precedent by becoming the first state in the country to organize an exhibition on the newly introduced criminal laws.”
The Chief Minister underscored the significance of the reforms, drawing attention to innovative provisions like community service and witness protection mechanisms that are designed to strengthen judicial effectiveness and ensure justice reaches all sections of society.
Dr. Saha also expressed pride in Tripura’s achievements, noting that the state’s proactive approach and heightened awareness among its citizens and administration have earned it recognition at the national level. He further reiterated that Tripura remains committed to upholding law and order, continuing its reputation as a state that values safety, justice, and governance.
