Agartala, Sep 14: Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu emphasized the role of team sports in fostering unity and collective spirit among players and the public at the closing ceremony of the Kumarghat Football Tournament held at the PWD ground on Sunday.
Speaking at the event, the Governor praised the Khelo India program, stating that the central government is working to revive various sports across the country and encourage youth participation in sports activities. He noted that efforts to promote rural sports have already been successful and added that football is especially popular in India’s northeastern states.
Governor Nallu remarked, “Team sports reflect the sense of solidarity and togetherness among players and the community.” He called for further encouragement of sporting activities to strengthen social bonds.
In the final match, Drishti Foundation and Ranjo Club competed for the championship title. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including MLA Bhagaban Chandra Das, Chairperson of the Unakoti District Council Amalendu Das, Chairman of Kumarghat BAC Taranjoy Riang, District Magistrate Dr. Tamal Majumdar, and SP of Unakoti District Sudhambika R.
Following the tournament’s conclusion, the Governor also visited the Bhavatarini Temple, accompanied by the MLA, District Magistrate, and SP.
