Agartala, Sep 15: On the occasion of the 58th Engineers’ Day, Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman attended a rally in front of Ujjayanta Palace on Monday, emphasizing the vital role engineers play in nation-building and development.
The event was jointly organized by the Public Works Department and The Institution of Engineers, Tripura State Centre. Addressing the gathering, Minister Barman paid tribute to the legendary engineer and Bharat Ratna recipient, M. Visvesvaraya, describing him as a visionary thinker and one of the key architects of India’s progress.
“Through his dreams of modern industrialization, he taught us that with dedication, discipline, and innovative thinking, a nation can move forward,” the Minister remarked. He said, “Every year, we celebrate his birth anniversary as Engineers’ Day, honoring his invaluable contributions to infrastructure development, including dam construction, railways, and other major projects.”
The Minister further highlighted the significance of engineers in shaping a stronger India. “To build ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’, engineers must take the lead. The Prime Minister’s initiatives like Digital India and Start-Up India aim to transform the nation, and engineers must be at the forefront of these efforts,” he added.
Chief Engineer Rajib Debbarma of the Public Works Department and Engineer Paramananda Sarkar Banerjee, OSD to the Chief Minister, among others were present.
