Agartala, Sept 17: Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Wednesday said that the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ Campaign will have far-reaching benefits for families and society at large, as the health of mothers directly ensures the well-being of their children and households.
Speaking at a programme held at Mohanpur Community Health Centre on the occasion of the campaign’s launch, the Minister said, “If the mother is healthy, the children will remain healthy. Ultimately, the entire family and society benefit. That is why the health of mothers has been given special priority under this initiative.”
Highlighting the scale of the campaign, Nath announced that 7,423 health camps will be organized across Tripura, many of which will have specialist doctors providing medical services to women. Blood donation camps will also be held as part of the initiative.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India, the Minister said it stands on four pillars — women, youth, farmers, and the underprivileged. He added that the central government has been working tirelessly to strengthen these pillars. Nath urged women to actively participate in the health services being extended through the campaign.
Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee, who also spoke on the occasion, expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for launching the initiative and said it would play an important role in the development of Tripura and the entire Northeast.
As part of the programme, fruits and sweets were distributed among patients at the health centre, while protein-rich food items were provided to TB patients. A special health camp was also organized at the centre, where specialist doctors from different departments treated 160 patients and distributed medicines free of cost.
