16th, September 2025: Tripura University organized a special program today to celebrate the valedictory function of Anti-Ragging Week -2025, in the Central Library Conference Hall. The event began at 2:00 PM with a debate competition, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty.
The program was presided over by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor (I/c) and Chairman of Anti-ragging committee, Prof. Shyamal Das along with Prof. Shaon Ray Chaudhuri, IQAC Director & Chairman Anti-ragging squad (ARS) and Dean of Students’ Welfare, Prof. Somdev Banik. The event was coordinated by the Nodal Officer of Anti-Ragging Committee (ARC) and Squad, Dr. Shailesh Kumar Srivastava along with committee members of ARC and ARS.
More than 100 students attended the program. Total 32 students participated in the debate competition from different departments of the University. Six participants were awarded for their outstanding performance in the debate competition. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor personally handed over the certificates and medals to the winners and delivered an inspiring presidential address.
In his speech, Prof. Das emphasized the importance of eradicating ragging from educational institutions. He remarked, “Ragging is a bad word, but the focus should be on the word ‘Anti’ and students must ensure that they are never a part of such incidents.” He also appreciated the Anti-Ragging Committee for successfully organizing the debate competition and the valedictory function.
The Nodal Officer of the Anti-Ragging Committee, Dr. Shailesh Kumar Srivastava extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries, guests, and participants. He told that under the Visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice chancellor in charge and Registrar Prof. Deepak Sharma, the Anti-ragging committee has implemented Zero tolerance policy against ragging in the campus. Dr. Bala Subramanian Natesan, member of Anti-ragging Squad Committee (ARS) proposed the vote of thanks and the program was compared by Dr. Aparna Das, member of Anti-ragging committee (ARC). The event concluded with a strong message promoting harmony, respect, and a ragging-free campus environment.
