Agartala, Sept 23: In a major step towards easing traffic congestion in Agartala city, the state government has initiated plans for a new flyover. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha informed the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday that tenders for the project were invited on July 16 this year.
The proposed flyover will begin from I.G.M. Chowmuhani and extend up to the identified site near the Reserve Bank of India office, covering R.M.S. Chowmuhani, Bidurkarta Chowmuhani, Colonel Chowmuhani, North Gate, and Radhanagar Motor Stand. Additionally, one arm of the flyover will be extended from R.M.S. Chowmuhani towards Orient Chowmuhani.
The Chief Minister said that after the completion of the tender process and allotment of work order, construction will begin at the earliest. However, he clarified that the government has no plans to extend the existing Agartala flyover up to Radhanagar Motor Stand and Kaman Chowmuhani.
Dr. Saha further added that the government is also planning to construct a flyover in Udaipur town from Jagannath Chowmuhani to Khilpara.
