Agartala, Sep 25: The Tripura government has announced a series of special measures to guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply during the Durga Puja festivities, including the introduction of mobile power response teams at major puja venues.
Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath chaired a high-level review meeting at the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) headquarters on Thursday, joined by the Managing Director of TSECL, officials from TPGL and TPTL, and senior officers from across the state’s 16 divisions and 79 subdivisions.
Nath said the government is determined to ensure that no puja pandal faces disruption during the state’s biggest festival. “We have made comprehensive arrangements — from keeping all transformers functional to deploying sufficient staff, vehicles, and backup support from external agencies. A 24×7 helpline (1912) will also remain active to address complaints promptly,” he told reporters after the meeting.
This year, the department will deploy mobile response teams for the first time, tasked with reaching puja sites immediately in case of technical glitches. “It is a proactive step to make sure the festivities remain uninterrupted,” Nath said.
To meet the seasonal surge in demand, Tripura has secured an additional 40 MW from Mizoram under a regional power-sharing arrangement. The state’s peak demand, which touched 376 MW earlier this month, is expected to rise to around 380 MW during the festival — significantly higher than in recent years.
“With these steps, including the new mobile teams, we are confident of ensuring a safe and bright Durga Puja for the people of Tripura,” Nath said, extending festive greetings.
