Patna, Sep 29 (IANS) — JD-U chief spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar on Monday launched a sharp counterattack on Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, accusing him of lacking knowledge of economic issues and questioning his credibility to criticise the Bihar government.
Dismissing Tejashwi’s allegation that the state’s committed expenditure stands at ₹2 lakh crore, Neeraj clarified that the actual figure is ₹1.08 lakh crore. “Bihar’s GDP is ₹10 lakh crore, and public welfare schemes are determined by the state’s financial capacity and central resources, not by anyone’s guesswork,” he said. He added that such clarifications would be given by the Finance Minister, but accused Tejashwi of “trying to play the role of a big leader without facts.”
Taking a swipe at the RJD leader, Neeraj mocked: “Who would copy a 420 man (cheater)?” — a veiled reference to corruption cases involving Tejashwi and his family, including the fodder scam and the IRCTC land-for-job case. He argued that Bihar feels ashamed when Tejashwi’s name surfaces in courts, insisting that a leader with such a background has “no moral right” to question the system.
Neeraj also accused Tejashwi and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav of insulting Jananayak Karpoori Thakur, claiming their political focus has been more on acquiring land and properties across Bihar than on genuine development. He recalled an incident where Lalu allegedly denied Karpoori Thakur a government vehicle, compelling him to travel by rickshaw.
Mocking the RJD for claiming credit for Karpoori Thakur’s Bharat Ratna, Neeraj remarked: “We have the honour of being leaders of the people; they have the insult. Calling Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav leaders of the people is an insult to Karpoori Thakur.”
The remarks came a day after Tejashwi accused the Nitish Kumar government of corruption and financial irregularities.
