Tripura-based social media content creator Madhabi Biswas was arrested by Tripura Police on Saturday for allegedly circulating objectionable content and making indecent remarks about several individuals, including high-profile political figures.

According to police sources, the arrest followed multiple complaints from local residents who claimed that Biswas had been uploading videos and statements on various platforms that were offensive and misleading. Authorities said a case was registered under relevant sections of law pertaining to the publication and circulation of materials that could incite public disorder or harm reputations.

Police officials confirmed that prior to the arrest, investigators collected digital evidence of Biswas’s online activity. She was later taken into custody and brought to a local police station in Agartala for questioning.

Reports suggest that Biswas, known for her provocative online presence, had recently crossed limits of decency in her posts, targeting several individuals and political figures with objectionable language and insinuations. Many observers described her content as offensive to modesty and public morality, claiming it had the potential to corrupt or mislead audiences.

The incident has sparked a wave of debate both online and offline. While a section of netizens condemned the arrest, calling it an attack on freedom of speech, others defended the police action, emphasizing that freedom of expression must be balanced with social responsibility and respect for others.

Authorities stated that further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the violations and whether others were involved in sharing or amplifying the objectionable content.

Police officials reiterated that misuse of social media platforms to spread defamatory, indecent, or misleading material will attract strict legal action to maintain peace and public order.
