In a significant political development for India’s North East region, a new regional political platform is set to be unveiled tomorrow at the Constitution Club in New Delhi. The much-anticipated announcement will take place through a formal media briefing scheduled for 1 PM. This initiative is being viewed as a major step toward fostering greater unity and collaboration among political parties representing the diverse states of the North East.

Among the prominent leaders expected to attend the event are Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarman, the founder of Tipra Motha and a key figure in the movement for indigenous rights in Tripura. Sources indicate that the new platform, conceptualized with inputs from Debbarman, aims to function as a broader coalition bringing together various North East–based political parties under one umbrella.

The proposed alliance is expected to serve as a collective voice for the region, addressing common socio-political and developmental challenges that often receive limited attention in national discourse. While the detailed structure and agenda of the coalition are yet to be revealed, political observers believe it could reshape regional dynamics ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections in several North Eastern states and potentially play a role in national politics.

However, it remains unclear which parties will formally join the new formation. Speculation is rife about the involvement of key regional players from states such as Nagaland, Mizoram, and Assam. The formal announcement tomorrow is likely to shed light on the composition, leadership, and long-term vision of this emerging political front, which could mark the beginning of a new chapter in the political narrative of India’s North East.
